Free Online Course: Sustainable Energy for Policy Makers from Small Island Developing States (SIDS)
Offered by COE and HAW Hamburg University – starting February 5th, 2018 for a duration of 5 weeks

About the course: Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) face distinctive challenges to ensure sustainable livelihoods for their current population as well as future generations. One of these challenges relates to energy – the access to affordable energy, the reliable supply of sustainable energy and the efficient use of energy. Despite a large potential for the production of renewable energy, the availability and cost-effectiveness of existing energy efficiency technologies, SIDS still show a heavy reliance on fossil fuels to meet its energy demands, not least due to a lack of skilled human resources in the energy sector that still constrains the introduction of sustainable energy technologies for SIDS. The free online course “Sustainable Energy for Policy Makers from SIDS” will not give you the answers, but seeks to inspire you to ask the right questions and enable you to assess the opportunities of renewable and sustainable energy-efficient energy technologies offer for SIDS in particular.
